Well, a couple days ago I blogged about a gentleman who alleged the Coast Guard was acting in a discriminatory manner. Well, he was just offered a civilian position with the Coast Guard. The decision to hire him was made before the decision maker knew the applicant had a complaint boiling (a little like one hand not knowing what the other is doing); he was hired on his own merit.
He had a pretty good case, though, and likely would have won. You can't make hiring decisions based on race or creed or gender or handicap... and it certainly looked like earlier decisions were influenced by applicants' disabilities.
Well, score one for the system finally working. At least this applicant got hired.
