Justice, American Style

And when I heard my favorite bookstore (Broad Street Books) was closing, I thought I was having a bad day. Nothing like Jonathan Magbie's bad day. Simple possession of a little mary-j and you end up dead in jail due to lack of medical attention. Ouch.

The U.S. Attorney involved in the case, Charles Stimson (a former schoolmate of mine) tried to balance the needs of the people with the needs of individual. Stimson evidently advised the judge
that Magbie had medical needs that the jail couldn't accommodate.
The judge didn't listen.
