Wal-Mart can be stopped!

Community activists in Bradenton, Florida, brought Wal-Mart up short earlier this year. Led by a retired Marine Corps general, a neighborhood group convinced the Manatee County commissioners to not allow a Wal-Mart to be built on a site in the eastern part of Manatee.

The General headed
Safe and Economically Viable Neighborhoods Inc. (SAEVN), a nonprofit organization University Park residents formed specifically to challenge the proposal for the 224,000-square-foot store and accompanying garden center at University Parkway and Honore Avenue.
Manatee County does have three other Wal-Marts, but not that one at University Parkway...

It can be done!
