Coast Guard Disaster Area Response Team

NEW ORLEANS - (Sept. 3) A Coast Guard search and rescue crew from a St. Louis, Mo., based Disaster Area Response Team drags their skiff to a launching point on South Carrollton Avenue in New Oreans to look for people in distress. U.S. Coast Guard photograph by Petty Officer 3rd Class Larry Chambers.

The CG aviators -- particularly the 60 and 65 crews -- have been getting a great deal of press... rightly so, I suppose, but let's hear it for the boat forces. Let no one think we are a service with only a single type of rescue platform. (Of course, if you know a Coast Guard aviator, he or she is likely to tell you that the CG would be nothing without them).
