A spokesman for the U.S. Coast Guard said its crews have rescued more than 3,000 people from rooftops and other spots in the New Orleans area.Things are starting to fall into place; they don't look as much like a Charlie Foxtrot as they did 24 hours ago.
"The sheer number is impossible to tell," Lt. Russell Hall told Fox news this morning.
The Coast Guard is staffing rescues around the clock, he said. "We have our work cut out for us."
