We continue to prove the Coast Guard is the "Leatherman of the Littorals"

NEW ORLEANS, La. (Sept. 29, 2005)- A Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Kodiak, Alaska, based out of Air Station Houston drops a sandbag to repair a damaged levee. The Coast Guard dropped 18,000 pounds of sand while working hand in hand with the National Guard to reconstruct the breeched levees. U.S. Coast Guard photo by Christopher Evanson.

Nearly two years ago, I claimed the Coast Guard was the "Leatherman of the Littorals" when it came to joint military operations. This picture shows that broad capability of the Coast Guard. Not only is the crew from Alaska, flying a helo based out of Texas, on a mission in Louisiana... but they're flying a job for the Army.

We are, indeed, the Leatherman of military services.
