What, exactly, is important?

Stumbled across this bit... Seems that the US military command in Iraq has decided that our troops are slipping in terms of appearance. New standards have been issued for all US military and contract personnel in Iraq.

The troops here, who are clearly doing something important -- hearts and minds -- are likely in violation of multiple standards. Hmmm, exactly what is important?

Surf over here and check out what various military members are saying about this directive. I sense a disconnect between the top and the bottom.

  1. What a shocker. The brass care more about appearance than mission. You would think there would be other things on their IEDs, Zarqawi, Civil War, oil production, to name a few.
