What's brewing in Olde Towne

Excitement, that's what. Seems we have an independent brew pub headed for the 600 block of High Street! From the VA Pilot:
Tom DeLise has always been fascinated by beer, the different types and the process of making it.

He started home-brewing about 15 years ago. Now he plans to tap into his hobby to open his own brew pub.

The Air Force veteran wants to open the brewery and restaurant at 615 High St. in time for the summer festival season. DeLise, who has visited brew pubs all over the country, has invested about $200,000 in equipment to put one in Portsmouth.

A use permit was approved by the Planning Commission this month and will go to the City Council in April.

By fall, DeLise hopes to be serving his seasonal specialty – a beer made with pumpkin.
Let's hope the Council approved the use permit. This is -- and no sarcasm here -- a great idea and will be an excellent addition to Olde Towne.
