Another actor as President?

Fred Thompson

It's all the buzz... From The Politico:
Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson confirmed rumors Sunday that he is considering a bid to seek the Republican presidential nomination.

“I’m giving some thought to it,” Thompson said on "Fox News Sunday." “I’m going to wait and see how things pan out.”

The actor dismissed suggestions that it might be too late for him to get in the race because his would-be rivals are already raising money and securing support.

“A lot of people think it’s late already,” Thompson said. “I don’t think it is.”

He would not give a timeline for his decision-making process, but hinted that he would know sooner rather than later whether there would be an opportunity for him to make a legitimate run.
You can find the full transcript from his morning on Fox News here.

I wonder if most people would think of Fred Thompson really as Arthur Branch, the District Attorney on the long-running Law & Order.

Here's my question: would he give up the Law & Order gig to serve as President... or would he keep the gig, even as President?
