Portsmouth's possible contributions to NASA

Seems the BASF chemical plant in Portsmouth is about to run dry of raw materials. Not unexpected, mind you.

Gregory Richards in the The Virginian-Pilot:
German-owned chemicals giant BASF Corp. expects to stop production at its Portsmouth plant next week, a company official said Friday. BASF announced in 2004 that it would shift the work to Texas.

The facility produces a superabsorbent polymer used in baby diapers and adult incontinence products....

The exact date that production will cease depends on how fast the raw materials run out....
I didn't realize that Portsmouth had a possible link to NASA and Navy Captain Lisa Marie Nowak. Is it possible that the absorbent materials in the special NASA diapers that Captain Nowak wore on her special mission this past February?
