Goats in the news

Puck Fair

Sometimes, synchronicity appears in the most unlikely of forms. We can go months without word of goats in the news, and then today...

From Ireland,
Jimmy, a feisty white mountain goat, was crowned king of Ireland on Friday at one of the country's oldest fairs.

Dating back centuries, the Puck Fair is an annual festival of drinking, music and dancing celebrated in the town of Killorglin in southern Ireland.
And then from the State of Washington in these United States,
A man accused of having sex with a goat is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday on a animal cruelty charge. Charging papers say a witness saw 63-year-old Arthur Lawton having sex with a goat May 8th in a barn at Eatonville's Pioneer Farm Museum where he worked.

Lawton said he was trying to milk the goat.
I'm thinking Jimmy the goat is glad he doesn't live in Washington.

This is the sort of juxtaposition that late night TV hosts like Mr. Leno and Mr. Letterman just salivate over.
