I used to think Orwell's world was bunk

It could never happen here, I thought. America would never take on the characteristics of Orwell's world depicted in his novel 1984. I was wrong. Yesterday, the President signed into law an expansion of the government's power to eavesdrop without warrants. No end is in sight. Liberties and protections will be worn away, bit by bit, little by little, until we face the inevitable.
