The following information came across my desk; it's important to share. Don't drive drunk this holiday season.

Tow to Go!

This service is available from the evening of December 12th through the early morning hours of January 4th. The service area is the Greater Hampton Roads area including the Cities of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Newport News and Hampton, Poquoson, Yorktown and Williamsburg, VA.

AAA Tidewater Virginia is partnering with Anheuser-Busch and Hoffman Beverage Company to sponsor Tow to Go during the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

The single most important goal of the program is get the individual and their vehicle home safely.

If you unexpectedly find your legs wobbling after a couple of "sips" of champagne and a pair of car keys in your hand, call Tow to Go, a service of AAA Tidewater Virginia and Anheuser-Bush and Hoffman Beverage Company.

Created with the stubborn intoxicated driver - the one who would rather risk lives than leave a stupid car in a stupid parking lot over night - in mind, Tow to Go offers a free tow and ride home to anyone who may have had one too many.

This service is available to anyone; you don't have to be a AAA member to use the service.

Note, this program is not a cop out for party-goers who are too lazy to arrange a designated driver. If you plan to drink, plan for a safe way home.

Tow to Go is not a substitute for using designated drivers.

A bartender may call on behalf of an individual who needs to be towed.
Actually, anyone can call on behalf of the intoxicated driver.

The person who makes the request must be with the vehicle when the tow truck arrives, and he or she must have the keys to the vehicle.

Service will be provided to the intoxicated driver and no one else.

The tow truck driver will deliver the driver and his car to his place of residence, nowhere else. Let's repeat: Tow to Go will only take the inebriated person and the car back home.

No large trucks or RVs allowed. Only regular-sized cars will be towed. (This is an opportunity to save lives. Forget conning a free tow.)

No reservations allowed. (If you know you're going to being downing the J├Ągermeister, than you should have arranged alternative transportation, such as a taxi, a bus or a designated driver.)

Tow to Go is confidential and is available to everyone, not just AAA members, so no one should hesitate to call 757-631-1700 if they are in a situation where they should not be driving home after drinking.

Be safe this holiday season. Be smart and arrange for a designated driver. If you find you've missed that part of the equation, call Tow to Go and get home safely.
